DIY Farmhouse Table - Moderate

I love this table so much for a few reasons: It was the first piece of furniture I ever built, it unlocked a passion inside of me I didn't know I had, it gave me the confidence I have been longing for, and... it's beautiful. Thanks to Ana White and all of her wonderful woodworking plans, I am slowly furnishing my home with gorgeous, solid wood furniture, and I'm enjoying every minute of it! You'll find Ana White's plans for this table here. This plan is for a table with pocket holes, but she has a link on her website for the same table without pocket holes. Trust me, you will want to make this table with pocket holes. Buy the jig. I have a couple of other tricks to tell you about as well.

Kreg products are absolutely amazing and a must-have for DIY'ers interested in building furniture. I used two different Kreg products when building this table.

This is a great investment! There are different models of the Kreg pocket hole jig, but this is the one that I have - The R3 Master System with Classic Clamp. If you want to make this table according to plan, you have to have a pocket hole jig.

Pocket holes make it easy to assemble sturdy and well-made furniture without the unsightly screws showing.

This is the other Kreg product I cannot live without! The Kreg Rip-Cut Circular Saw Guide. This product has kept me from having to buy a table saw, while making multiple pieces of furniture for my home.

All of the wood that you buy will have a rounded edge. Use this rip-cut guide to give each piece for the tabletop those perfect, square edges.

A couple of tricks:

  • I put the stretcher support on the inside of the legs, in case someone wants to sit at the head or the foot of the table. This will give them a little more leg room. If you choose to do this, remember that you will need to make the stretcher a little shorter than the plans state.

A. This table is freaking heavy!

B. We couldn't get it through the door with the top on. We had bring the top and base in separately and assemble it inside. Depending on the size of your door, you might need to leave the stretcher off and add it after you get the table inside.

I hope you enjoy making this table as much as I did. If you make it, please share! I would love to see your interpretation!
