Affirmation Inspiration

The concept of doing affirmations is weird at first, right? They are especially uncomfortable to recite if you have issues with self-esteem or self-worth. For this reason, I had a difficult time just saying these things to myself, much less believing them. One of my favorite quotes is, "Change begins at the end of your comfort zone." I'll be referencing this quote a lot, because it has carried me through some tough times. I've learned that when I am having difficulty with something, that probably means that growth is right around the corner. I was less than stoked when I read about the "affirmations" step in The Miracle Morning. I went from an open-minded, "What on Earth would I say to myself?" to "This is dumb and I'm not doing it." in about 30 seconds. This is one of those moments when I had to remind myself that "change begins at the end of my comfort zone." FINE, I'll play along! Luckily, the internet was able to quickly point me in the right direction. I found these great affirmations on www.lemonadebrain.com, which I discovered on Pinterest. These really spoke to me and what I wanted for my life. After about a month of daily recitation, I was feeling stronger and more confident. I was able to start tailoring my list of affirmations to what I needed at the moment. Give it a shot! Do what works for you to best receive the message. For example, you can use the "affirmations" time allotted during your morning routine or write them on Post-It Notes and stick them to your bathroom mirror. Affirmations really do work! If you keep telling yourself something over and over again, you will eventually believe it. You would be surprised what you can accomplish when you believe in yourself!
